HistoryBefore the land of Palm Beach Gardens was developed it was used as pine forest and cattle ranches. It was bought by a rich landowner name John D McArthur who decided he wanted to make homes for nearly 55,000 people. He chose the name Palm Beach City originally but the name was denied so he went with his second choice of Palm Beach Garden and that name has remained. In 1959 the city only existed on Paper because there were no residents until 1960. Mr. McArthur allowed one man to stay on his land before he started development making it an official city. The city's growth was halted due to hard freezes in 1985 and 1989 but has since grown considerably. Its development has improved and so has the Palm Beach Gardens rental homes market.
