History



Homestead, Florida is one of the oldest cities in Miami-Dade County. At a time Homestead consisted of one trail that allowed local farmers to transport fresh fruit and vegetables. The city was made famous in 1992 after the devastating blow from hurricane Andrew. The hurricane caused the small city to increase its population due to the amount of devastation in nearby cities.

The city of Homestead is close to over eight elementary schools, only two high schools and one University. The local attractions are Everglade Alligator Farm, Biscayne National Park and the Fruit and Spice Park. What makes this amazing work of art so amazing is that no one has ever seen its creator Ed Leedskalnin making it. It appears as if it was done by magic or a higher power. It is one of the city's best mysteries. The city also has something for nature lovers as well. The R.F. Orchids offer guest a tour of its gardens filled with marvelous orchids in different shapes, sizes and colors.
