HistoryBal Harbour Village began as 245 acres of undeveloped, partially swampy land owned by Miami Beach Heights Corporation. City planners, Harland Bartholomew & Associates, began design plans for Bal Harbour in the 1930's. During World War II, the land was rented to the U.S. Air Corps, and was used for military barracks, firing ranges, and prisoner of war camps along the beach, putting the development project on hold. After the war ended, the first Bal Harbour homes were constructed by Robert C. Graham as he converted the barracks into apartment buildings. On August 14, 1946, Bal Harbour Village was incorporated and the first council was elected. DescriptionBal Harbour Village is located on the northern tip of the barrier island of Miami Beach.
