History


Miami, Florida is an area that was first established and settled over 400 years ago during the 1500's by the Spanish. It was originally a mission created by the Spaniards for use in religious purposes and later on, during the 1800's, served as a fort during the Second Seminole War. The major population spike in Miami occurred when the Cubans migrated to the area once Fidel Castro came to power.
